Hi, I’m Jeanie Jo — writer, home cook, and accidental food historian. I’ve always believed that good stories, good meals, and a great outfit can change almost anything. We live on the Texas Gulf Coast, where the air smells like salt and sunscreen and the sunsets still make me stop mid-sentence. My husband Chad and I share this season with our youngest daughter, while our other kids are scattered across the map, each writing their own story. In a couple of years, we’ll head north to the Washington Peninsula, where the tides will still keep time and the salt air will feel like home.

Before Food and the Story, I taught middle school Social Studies, Reading, and Earth Science. Somewhere between grading essays and explaining ancient civilizations, I fell in love with storytelling — how people, places, and moments shape who we become. I earned my master’s degree in history with an emphasis in education, and my love for learning never really left the classroom. It just moved to the kitchen.

Now, Food and the Story is where it all comes together — food and faith, family and style, books and beach days, slow living and second chances. It’s a collection of stories from the kitchen to the closet and the market to the beach, seasoned with butter, linen, laughter, and grace.

Pull up a chair and stay a bit. The coffee’s brewing, the stories are flowing, and grace? There’s always plenty to go around.

Some of the links shared within my posts are affiliate links, which may earn me a few pennies at no extra cost to you, just helping keep the butter stocked and the grace flowing. Please know I only share products I truly use or that are on my wish list to bring home someday.
