I am spending time walking through the Gospels from beginning to end, looking for the moments where Jesus leaned in, lifted up, and loved without hesitation. I want to understand how His grace works in everyday life and what it invites me to become.

Matthew 3:1 to 12, ESV

There is something about John the Baptist that feels wild in the best way. A lone voice in the desert, clothed in camel’s hair, preaching beside the Jordan with a message that cracked the silence wide open. Repent. Prepare the way. Make room for the One who is coming.

When I read Matthew 3, I imagine the crowds gathering near the riverbanks, dust on their sandals, questions in their eyes. People from every corner of Judea standing shoulder to shoulder because something about John’s words made them believe change was possible. A fresh start. A washed-clean beginning.

And I could not help but wonder what it would feel like to hear someone call you toward transformation with that kind of honesty. No pretense. No performance. Just truth spoken with fire and clarity. John never tried to be the center of the story. He simply pointed to the One who would change everything.

His message was sharp, but it was also hopeful. Turn around. Come home. Get ready for the Messiah who baptizes not just with water, but with the Spirit. John knew that the world was about to shift. That grace was about to walk onto the scene in human form.

Maybe that is why this chapter still feels so alive. It reminds me that preparing my heart matters. That change often begins in the quiet places. That even in the wilderness seasons, God is already moving toward me.

Key Verse:

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 3:2
