I am spending time walking through the Gospels from beginning to end, looking for the moments where Jesus leaned in, lifted up, and loved without hesitation. I want to understand how His grace works in everyday life and what it invites me to become.

Matthew 10, ESV

Matthew 10 feels like the moment a story shifts. Jesus gathers the twelve, looks them in the eyes, and gives them a mission that is bigger than anything they could imagine. Heal the sick. Raise the dead. Proclaim that the kingdom of heaven is at hand. It is bold and beautiful and slightly terrifying.

I picture the disciples standing there, hearts pounding, wondering if they were really ready. Fishermen, tax collectors, ordinary men being asked to do extraordinary things. And I could not help but wonder how many times we feel the same way when God nudges us toward something new. Called, yet unsure. Willing, yet wide eyed.

Jesus does not promise ease. He promises presence. He tells them they will face resistance, but they do not go alone. Not one step. Not one conversation. Not one moment of courage is carried by their strength alone.

Maybe that is why this chapter feels so steadying. It reminds me that being sent is not about confidence. It is about trust. God equips us long before He ever sends us out.

Key Verse:

“It is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.” Matthew 10:20
