I am spending time walking through the Gospels from beginning to end, looking for the moments where Jesus leaned in, lifted up, and loved without hesitation. I want to understand how His grace works in everyday life and what it invites me to become.

Matthew 11:1 to 24, ESV

There is something deeply human about Matthew 11. John the Baptist, sitting in prison, sends a message to Jesus that feels both raw and brave. Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another? Even the boldest prophet had moments where hope felt thin.

Jesus does not scold him. He does not shame the question. Instead, He sends back evidence of compassion in motion. The blind see. The lame walk. The lepers are cleansed. The deaf hear. The dead are raised. The poor receive good news. It is as if Jesus is saying, Look at what love is doing. Look at what grace is becoming.

And I could not help but wonder how often faith looks like that. Not certainty, but honesty. Not perfect confidence, but the courage to ask the real questions while God keeps working in the background.

Then the chapter shifts. Jesus speaks to the crowds, grieving the towns that witnessed His miracles but never opened their hearts. Woe to you, Chorazin. Woe to you, Bethsaida. It is not anger that rises off the page. It is sorrow. The kind that comes when love is offered but not received.

Maybe that is why this passage lingers. It reminds me that doubt does not disqualify us, but indifference can close the door. Jesus meets honest questions with gentleness, and hardened hearts with grief. Both reveal how much He cares.
