I am spending time walking through the Gospels from beginning to end, looking for the moments where Jesus leaned in, lifted up, and loved without hesitation. I want to understand how His grace works in everyday life and what it invites me to become.

Matthew 3:13 to 17, ESV

When Jesus stepped into the Jordan, it was not with fanfare or crowds chanting His name. It was quiet water, damp sand, and John looking startled that the Messiah wanted to be baptized like everyone else. There is something tender about that scene. Heaven meeting earth in the most ordinary river.

I imagine the moment Jesus went under, the water closing around Him like a pause. Then the rising. The inhale. The way the sunlight must have caught the droplets on His face. And then a voice from heaven breaking the sky wide open. This is my beloved Son.

And I could not help but wonder if baptism has always been less about the spectacle and more about the surrender. The choosing. The beginning.

Maybe that is why this moment still feels so grounding. Jesus stood in the same water as everyone else. He started His ministry soaked and humble, reminding us that holiness often begins with trust.

Key Verse:

“This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17
